The urban commune of Tetouan held a meeting last Friday with members of the Association of Traders of the Central Market of Tetouan. Speaking on this occasion, the Vice-President of the commune, Noureddine El Harrouchi, stressed the importance that the wholesale fish market holds for the inhabitants of Tetouan, noting the imperative to upgrade and organise the surroundings of this market in accordance with the conditions in force for the practice of trading products with a high impact on the health of citizens, including vegetables and fish, indicates a press release from the commune.
For his part, the representative of the Association of Traders of the Central Market of Tetouan reviewed the problems faced by the wholesale fish market, notably the lack of cleanliness, waste from chicken shops, and the absence of spaces reserved for fish and vegetable transporters.
In this context, it was proposed to set up a commission, in coordination with the Association and the wholesale market traders, which will be responsible for developing a study on the market's needs.
