Tétouan hosts the 6th Forum proceedings

The 6th edition of the National Forum of Sociological Thought opened its proceedings on Friday in Tetouan, under the theme "The sociology of religiosity", at the initiative of the "Friends of Sociology" association.

Speaking at the opening of this meeting, in which intellectuals, researchers, religion specialists, and sociologists participated, the president of the association, Fouzia Hayouh, indicated that the meeting aims to debate, over three days, the problems and approaches related to religion and religiosity in society, given that this theme preoccupies different categories of society in the wake of the events and changes that the world is experiencing and which have created "multiple and contradictory" modes within societies.

She added that the questioning of sociology around this phenomenon is of capital importance to understand and interpret the modes of religiosity and their diversity within the framework of their intersection with the various multiple social, political, and economic components.

For his part, the director of Dar Al Hadith Al Hassania, Ahmed El Khamlichi, emphasised that the discussion of the theme "religion and religiosity" at the present time is of great importance, particularly in the current reality of the Arab and Islamic world, adding that societies have an urgent need for dialogue in order to overcome the problems they are facing, as well as a unification of opinions on fundamental issues.

The programme of this edition is structured around four themes in relation to "Religion and religiosity", "Models of religiosity between coexistence and violence", "Religiosity and the media", and "Issues of religion in Moroccan society".

This Forum will be hosted notably by Moroccan researchers, experts, sociologists, and scientists.
