The 21st edition of the Tetouan International Mediterranean Film Festival will be held from 28 March to 4 April.
Films representing 16 countries from the Mediterranean rim will be screened as part of this edition in the Avenida and Spanish Theatre cinemas, the Tetouan Cultural Centre, the House of Culture, and the French Institute, as well as other spaces in the city of Tetouan, the organisers indicated on Monday in a statement.
The films in competition will compete for twelve prizes. These are the prizes for feature film, short film, and documentary, the statement adds, noting that several films will be screened on the sidelines of the official competition as part of the "Panorama" and "Retrospective" programmes, in addition to the films scheduled for the tribute ceremony for Mediterranean cinema greats and the opening and closing films.
The programme for this edition will be punctuated by the organisation of a symposium focused on "Cinema and audiovisual" and round tables on "Cinema, city and environment", organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Policy, and on "Moroccan cinema and the challenges of production", initiated in collaboration with the Moroccan Chamber of Film Producers. According to the organisers, the deadline for the registration of films in the official competition is set for 31 January via the Festival website.
