Mobilising investments of around 25 million dirhams, this project comes to consolidate the vocation of the craft sector as a source of job creation and value added. It will offer young people in the region professional qualification adapted to the socio-economic reality of the craft sector, mainly through the apprenticeship training mode, as well as integration into the labour market.
This centre will thus contribute to the preservation of certain trades threatened with disappearance, to the promotion of local craft products, and to the strengthening of the organisation and structuring of the sector. Built on a total area of 1,500 m² (928 m² covered), the new training establishment also sets itself the objectives of supporting, organising, and supervising the artisans of the city of Tétouan and its region in order to enable them to improve and diversify their incomes and to valorise their products. It notably includes five workshops (tapestry, pottery/ceramics, ironwork, carpentry, leatherwork), training rooms, an exhibition space, a library, a computer room, a laboratory, an administrative block, and a meeting room.
Benefiting more than 500 trainees per year, the new structure is the result of a partnership between the Department of Vocational Training, the Ministry of Handicrafts and Social and Solidarity Economy, the urban commune of Tétouan, and the Chamber of Handicrafts of Tanger-Tétouan. The apprenticeship training centre in craft trades in Tétouan thus comes to reinforce the 2015 vision for the development of the craft sector, a proactive vision turned towards growth and employment.
