Resurgence of burglaries

Resurgence of burglaries

On the night from Friday to Saturday, a new method of burglary was tested on a teleboutique a few metres from the gendarmerie brigade. The burglar(s) acted in the most audacious manner. They drilled a hole in the shutter closing the shop using saws, it is thought. The opening allowed an adult of average size to pass through. The burglar, who had previously failed in his attempts to drill through the neighbouring wall, succeeded in his goal through the gate located near the gendarmerie brigade, next to a newsstand, on a well-lit axis in the city centre.

The neighbours, alerted by the burglar's attempts to make an opening in the wall of the dwelling next to the burgled shop, had tried to warn the brigade by telephone, in vain. They then resigned themselves to calling the owner of the booth, but she did not answer either.

The burglar, apparently not fearing being disturbed, took his time and attacked the teleboutique, seizing a batch of recharge cards and a significant amount of cash, according to the owner who is said to be from Bejjaâd, all estimated at several thousand dirhams.

The inhabitants of Tarfaya, disgusted by this burglary which is not the only one in their small town, hitherto peaceful, denounce the insecurity and the lack of measures ensuring the peace of the population. They ask the security officials to remedy this situation.
