More than 50 practitioners at the service of the needy: Medical caravan in Tan Tan

The dilapidation of medical equipment and the absence of practitioners in Tan Tan mean that any initiative likely to contribute to relieving the sick, who are oh so numerous in this city, is welcome. This is what the members of the Tomouh Association have understood and are doing their best to help the populations. Thus, they will organise, from November 22 to 25, 2012, their fourth medical caravan in favour of the needy and isolated populations of the province of Tan Tan.

More than 50 professors and doctors, from different university hospitals and hospitals in the Kingdom, will provide services concerning 12 medical specialties to about eight thousand beneficiaries. These specialists will perform small and large surgical operations for certain cases in the operating theatre of the Hassan II Hospital in Tan Tan.

The patients benefiting from consultations and interventions will receive the medicines prescribed by the doctors free of charge and will benefit from follow-up for operated patients. Oral and dental care will be provided for students from schools in the province by a mobile unit of the Ministry of Health.

A group of more than one hundred volunteers belonging to the Tomouh Association and the local associative fabric, in addition to volunteers from the Organisation for Volunteering for Development, Alter Forum Tan Tan, and the "Surgical Caravan" Association, will be in charge of accompanying the medical staff.

The "Tomouh 4" operation comes to meet the insistent need for medical services and the requests of the inhabitants of the province of Tan Tan.

This humanitarian caravan is organised in partnership with the Ministry of Health, the Southern Agency, the province of Tan Tan, and local councils.

Note that the Lalla Salma Association for the fight against cancer is participating in this "Tomouh 4" caravan through a mobile unit specialised in the early detection of breast cancer in women (mammography).

Scientific seminars and presentations, on the sidelines of the caravan, will be organised and will benefit the medical corps and the general public.
