The Fès CRT wants to regain the dynamism it once had, particularly between 2002 and 2010. To do this, the Board of Directors of this institution held an important meeting during which the main lines of the 2015/2017 action plan were unveiled. It should be noted that a budget of 150 million dirhams will be released for the realisation of the objectives included in the plan. Questioned about the work of the CRT's Board of Directors, the president Driss Faceh declared to us: "During this meeting, we presented an ambitious action plan to catch up on the progress of the PDRT (Regional Tourism Development Plan) which has broken down in recent years. This action plan is a direct result of Vision 2020 and especially the PDRT which provides for the repositioning of the destination, moving from a simple stop on the imperial cities circuit to a destination in its own right for stays and 'city-breaks'.
He added: "One of the first obstacles that must absolutely be overcome is that of the densification of air services to multiply point-to-point international flights and connect Fès to Marrakech and Agadir on a national level". The second component, he continues, concerns promotion tools, namely the various guides on the city, thermalism, rural tourism, circuits in the Medina, etc., noting that these tools will allow us better visibility of the Fès tourism product during international tourism fairs.
Furthermore, the Fès cultural agenda will soon be born. Indeed, Mr. Faceh stressed that as far as entertainment is concerned, the product will be diversified. "Not only are we going to resume the Ziara Tijania but above all launch rural tourism by highlighting local products," he specified.
Also, it is indicated, the CRT plans to participate with a Fès-stand in about ten foreign trade fairs. Thus, several cultural weeks are scheduled in Africa and Europe. As we have seen, this ambitious plan, the ultimate goal of which is to "resuscitate" the Fès destination, must encourage all professionals to invest fully in the realisation of the targeted goals. A mobilisation, more necessary than ever, to reconquer traditional source markets and others, notably the Russian, Polish and Middle Eastern ones.
