As part of its recovery plan: Tamesna will soon have a technological training centre

The recovery plan for the new city of Tamesna is on the right track: indeed, a partnership agreement between Mohammed V Agdal University (UM5A) and the Al Omrane Group was signed on Tuesday in Rabat. Under this agreement, Tamesna will acquire a technological training centre intended for the training of engineers, senior technicians and studies in science, commerce and management.

The signing ceremony was co-chaired by the Minister of Housing, Urban Planning and Urban Policy, Nabil Benabdallah, and the Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Executive Training, Lahcen Daoudi.

The recovery plan is broken down into 23 structuring projects and local facilities for a total amount of 538 million dirhams, of which 150 million dirhams are allocated to the technological centre.

Strengthening the identity, attractiveness and quality of life of Tamesna

Speaking on this occasion, Nabil Benabdallah indicated that this agreement further strengthens a homogeneous development of the new city of Tamesna and equips it, via major projects and various services, capable of guaranteeing the conditions for a decent and serene life.

He also specified that this project, which covers an area of 12.5 hectares, will contribute to boosting the growth of this city and developing a substantial offer in high-level technological training.

“We aim through this promising project to build a real university training centre, capable of strengthening the identity, attractiveness and quality of life at the city level.”

For his part, the Chairman of the Management Board of the Al Omrane Group, Badr El Kanouni, noted that this project further strengthens the attractiveness of the city and concretises the governmental synergy for the revival of the city, as jointly decided between the Ministry of Housing and the Al Omrane Group.

“In addition to the road connecting Tamesna to the Casablanca-Rabat motorway via Ain Atiq, which is fully operational, work on the first section of the road connecting Rabat to Tamesna has begun. Through these projects undertaken, the city of Tamesna will be only 15 minutes from Rabat.”

An appropriate multidisciplinary training package

While welcoming this promising technological centre, the Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Executive Training, Lahcen Daoudi, for his part deplored the lack of universities at the national level, pointing the finger at their “irrational distribution” and their “costly dispersion”.

“We must review the logic and the design in determining university fields,” he pleaded, calling for 100 hectares to be devoted to the university world in large cities, and 50 hectares in medium-sized cities, so as to guarantee the flourishing of national universities.

For his part, Wael Benjelloun, President of Mohammed V Agdal University, stressed that this new project meets the training needs expressed in the national labour market. He also indicated that the technological centre will house a unit dedicated to scientific research with a view to raising and supporting the information society.

This centre, which will be operational during the 2015-2016 year, will allow the units that will set up in the Tamesna industrial zone and those of the Temara Skhirat Prefecture to have a training offer and profiles in line with their needs.

A diversity of projects within the framework of the recovery plan

Alongside this flagship project, the Tamesna recovery plan, which covers the 2013-2017 period, includes a diversity of projects that converge to build a city policy by addressing mobility and road and connection networks, health provision, education and facilities, but also cultural, socio-educational and sports projects.

Particular importance has been reserved by this recovery plan to supervise and promote the aspects of management and maintenance of public spaces and services, the goal being to guarantee more sustainability for the quality of urban spaces and the living environment of this new city.
