The Hassania School of Public Works (EHTP) in Casablanca introduced a new module entitled "Solidarity Development Project" (PDS) into its training programme during the 2013-2014 academic year. This project, "conducted independently by the students, is a unique opportunity for future engineers to step into the daily life of an association or a social organisation with the aim of carrying out a concrete project," assures the statement from the establishment, which was created in 1971 under the supervision of the Ministry of Transport. The choice of Taliouine was motivated by the presence of two students from the region, the socioeconomic difficulties caused by the isolation faced by the population, and the infrastructure deficit, according to the same source. Thus, one of the projects that this group of students intends to carry out consists of fitting out the Taliouine high school library and equipping it with books, computer tools, and printers. Furthermore, the 700 students of the high school will benefit from the organisation of an orientation day led by the student engineers from EHTP Casablanca. Medical caravans and various donations: According to the document provided by EHTP Casablanca, the population of the Douar Imgoun, in the Tassousfi commune, has only one dispensary for 8,640 inhabitants. The project therefore includes a medical caravan during which care in various specialties will be provided, including ophthalmology, cardiology, dermatology, and gynaecology. This project, led by 20 student engineers, also aims to optimise the marketing of saffron. However, this humanitarian action requires resources, and collection is being done in collaboration with associations. On this subject, El Karboubi Hicham, head of communication for the caravan for the benefit of the population of the Taliouine region, attests that: "We are collaborating with local associations such as Migration and Development of Agadir, the Youth Benefactors Initiative of Taroudant, the
Aït Matene association of the Douar Imgoune, and with various donors. We have already collected clothes, blankets, and school supplies for the benefit of school children. Laboratories have provided us with free medicines that will be prescribed for the benefit of the local populations who need them." However, El Karboubi Hicham states that the donations collected so far are not sufficient to successfully carry out this social action: "We are still far from the target. We are currently looking for sponsors."
