The city of Berber gold

Taliouine, or Taliwine, depending on the spelling, is a small town of nearly 6,000 inhabitants, an important stop on the road from Agadir to Ouarzazate. The main street is anchored to the mountainside, at an altitude of about 1,500 metres, with houses above and houses below, and a view of the generous curve of the Zagmouzen wadi, the imposing silhouette of the old Glaoui Kasbah, and, perched on a mound, a "menzeh", those pavilions built in gardens to be able to enjoy nature in complete comfort, and sheltered from the sun.

The inhabitants of Taliouine are Chleuh Berbers, who are particularly welcoming. Along the main street, small restaurants welcome you for grilled meats, you can hear music and children approach you to offer you necklaces made of seeds dried and coloured with saffron.

On Mondays, the Souk is in full swing, with producers coming to sell their produce, hoping to earn a few more dirhams than at the cooperatives.
