Aziz Rebbah visited the rural commune of Latatra, where he took note of the progress of the National Rural Roads Programme in the province.
The Minister of Equipment, Transport, and Logistics, who was accompanied notably by the Governor of the Sidi Bennour province, El Mostapha Draiss, was also informed about the projects launched in 2013-2014, as part of this programme, concerning the construction and development of 40 km of the N201 national road between Sidi Bennour and Ouled Amrane, with a total cost estimated at 51 million DH. The National Rural Roads Programme is financed by the Ministry of Equipment, Transport, and Logistics.
In the commune of Ghenadra, Zemamra circle, Mr Rabbah launched the reinforcement works for the N1 national road over a length of 11 km from the commune of Saniet Berguigue to Zemamra; this 10 km road connects Zemamra to the Safi border for a cost of 17 million DH. The Minister concluded his tour with a visit to the major construction site of the El Jadida-Safi motorway, which is a little over 141 km long and includes a first junction (Casablanca-El Jadida) and five interchanges: El Jadida South, Jorf Lasfar, Sidi Smaïl, Oualidia “Sidi Bennour province”, and Safi North. The motorway, which will connect El Jadida to Safi by the end of 2014, appears as a real breath of fresh air for the Doukkala-Abda region and for opening up the city of Safi. Work began in early 2012. The investment amount for this project is estimated at 4.2 billion DH (excluding taxes). It is part of the second national motorway scheme.
The motorway is the natural extension of the coastal part of the North-South axis which has served the El Jadida province directly from Casablanca since 2006. Within this network, this motorway axis is an important link, as it will allow the Doukkala-Abda region to be connected to neighbouring regions via modern motorway infrastructure. For the regional economy, this infrastructure is an accelerator of the dynamic experienced by Safi, El Jadida, and Sidi Bennour by improving the attractiveness of these three provinces. The completion of the work is scheduled for the end of 2014. The new motorway, which will be commissioned in 2015, is a little over 141 km long. In its initial part, the project is located around the El Jadida province, a more densely built-up area, and will continue to the vicinity of the Jorf Lasfar site. Then, the motorway will branch off to the East to serve the locality of Sidi Smaïl and Sidi Bennour and will approach the coast again to serve Oualidia, a site of tourist interest.
