On the 24th of the current month, the inhabitants of the Douar Al Qaria, accompanied by their children, brandishing banners displaying their grievances, organised a march to assert their rights. They shouted their anger against the lack of water in these days of heatwave.
A march against thirst. A march for drinking water, this source whose consumption increases with the heat.
Libé contacted the municipal council to inquire about the untenable situation prevailing in this shanty town of Al Qaria, recently annexed to the city of Sidi Bennour following the administrative redistricting during the last municipal elections. We were told that the municipal council of Sidi Bennour has honoured its commitments to the inhabitants of Al Qaria, given the place occupied by this bastion of militancy and meeting place for resistance fighters who gathered at Sidi Bo Sekkaouen to liberate the country from the yoke of colonialism: "Douar Al Qaria occupies a good place in our hearts as USFP members, how many nationalists have passed through there!"
"Since 2011, says our interlocutor, we have done everything possible to find a definitive solution to the problem of supplying Al Qaria with drinking water. For this, we sent a letter to the Ministry of Agriculture, to the management of the ORMVAD for the transfer of the territory on which the said douar is built," since it fell under the zone of influence of the office, and therefore, any intervention on the part of the municipal council and its partners is null and void, because it is illegal.
Immediately, a solution, albeit timid, was found to at least mitigate the extent of this lack of drinking water, "After having written, adds our interlocutor, to the ministry, to the ORMVAD, a partnership agreement was concluded between the municipal council of Sidi Bennour and the RADEEJ of El Jadida for the supply of the Douar Al Qaria with drinking water." For this, an envelope of 2,000,000 dirhams was injected by the municipal council into the coffers of the RADEEJ for the realisation of this vital project.
Since the ball is now in the RADEEJ's court, shouldn't a solution be found to this problem?
