The 13th edition of the Arab Cadet Volleyball Championship (players born in 1997), organised from 6 to 15 August in Salé, will see the record participation of 11 countries, the organisers indicated on Wednesday evening in a press conference.
These are Bahrain (title holder), Algeria, Oman, Iraq, United Arab Emirates, Morocco (group A) and Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar and Egypt (group B), specified the director of the edition, Mohamed El Habib.
Placed under the theme "Sport, language of communication, and bridge of love and peace", this championship, which "will be very contested", is intended to be an opportunity to evaluate the level of Arab volleyball, declared Mohamed El Habib, noting that the level of the selections is in constant progress.
For the president of the Royal Moroccan Volleyball Federation, Bouchra Hajij, this competition is an opportunity for the Arab volleyball family to gather and celebrate the values promoted by the theme of this edition.
"All Moroccan components, including the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Olympic Committee and the Royal Moroccan Volleyball Federation, are mobilised to ensure the success of this great event," assured Bouchra Hajij.
For the representative of the Arab Volleyball Union, this competition serves as preparation for the entrants in anticipation of the African championship scheduled for 2016.
This press conference was followed by the traditional technical meeting that precedes each tournament and which constitutes the opportunity for delegations, referees and technicians to exchange on the final adjustments before the official kick-off.
The Arab Volleyball Championship was created by the Arab Volleyball Association in 1977 and took place for the first time in Kuwait. This is the first time that the Kingdom has hosted such a competition.
