The investigating judge in charge of financial crimes at the annex of the Sale Court of Appeal questioned the former director general of the Moroccan navigation company "Comanav" on Thursday. The suspect was heard as part of the in-depth interrogation, while the company's human resources director was to be questioned later in the day. Both defendants are in pre-trial detention. Seven people (former officials, executives, and employees of the company) are being prosecuted in the Comanav case, the facts of which date back to last June, for "forming a criminal gang, preparation for undermining the internal security of the State, disclosure of professional secrets, incitement and participation in the sabotage of public establishments (ports and ships), and obstruction of the freedom to work."
The investigating judge had heard the chairman and CEO of Comanav and his two sons, one of whom is the former mayor of Tangier, as well as executives of the company, as witnesses. A statement from the King's Prosecutor General at the Rabat Court of Appeal had, it is recalled, indicated that, following information received by the public prosecutor's office, according to which individuals had perpetrated illegal acts likely to undermine the internal security of the State and national economic interests, to damage structures, ports, and ships, and to obstruct the freedom to work at the Tanger-Med port, the investigating judge had instructed, on the basis of a letter rogatory, the National Brigade of the Judicial Police to conduct investigations, at the end of which seven individuals were questioned, six of whom were placed in pre-trial detention.
