The Canadian film "Mon corps à dos" by director Gaëlle Hannebicque won the Grand Prix at the 10th edition of the Rabat Handifilm Festival for cinema and disability on Saturday evening.
The film was awarded for "the effective and poetic innovation regarding the theme of scoliosis, through a treatment in which beauty accompanies the image and movement," indicated Gracia Assa, a member of the festival jury, during the awards ceremony.
The Hope Prize was awarded to young actor Mohamed Amine Teidj for his role in "Pour l'amour de mon père" by Farid Regragui, while the Best Screenplay Prize went to the Bahraini film "Zainab" by director Mohamed Ibrahim Mohamed. As for the Disability Awareness Prize, it was awarded to the Italian film "Il nostro piccolo segreto" (Our little secret) by Franco Montanaro.
In the category "Awareness capsules on the theme of disability made by high school students," the Grand Prix was won by "Face cachée," a production by the Arthur Varoquaux high school in Tomblaine (France).
The Best Screenplay Prize rewarded "Quoique tu fasses, tu dois aller de l'avant" by the BTS tourism Cannes (France), while the Awareness Prize was awarded to the capsule "Adil" from the Moussa Ibn Noussair high school in Khemisset.
During this closing ceremony, a tribute was paid to Moroccan actor Jamal El Ababssi.
Organized under the High Patronage of H.M. King Mohammed VI, the 10th edition of the Rabat Handifilm Festival for cinema and disability took place over four days under the theme "My dignity is my right," with the participation of numerous artists and associative actors working in the field of promoting the situation of disabled people.
The festival jury was composed of journalist Jamila Lemnate, actress Bouchra Ahrich, film critic Mohamed El Khaytar, director of advertising and awareness spots Gracia Assa, and the representative of the French Institute in Morocco, Antoine Le Bihan.
