Strike and sit-in by court clerks in Rabat

Strike and sit-in by court clerks in Rabat

The Democratic Union of Justice, affiliated with the FDT, is organising a regional strike today in the judicial district of the Rabat Court of Appeal and a sit-in by members of its national council in front of the military court. These two militant actions will precede the 24-hour national strike that will take place on the 30th of the current month in all the courts of the Kingdom.

In the absence of any reaction from the Minister of Justice and Liberties, Mustapha Ramid, to the demands of the court clerks, tension is set to rise a notch in the courts. Neither the letters addressed to the head of government, the Minister of the Interior, and the minister of their department have been able to change the situation of trade union freedoms, which has been constantly worsening since the inauguration of the current government. An offensive also marked by the forceful interventions of the police, on several occasions, to disperse demonstrations and any protest movement, however peaceful it may be. The standoff between Mustapha Ramid and the SDJ therefore continues more than ever. And the justice officials are more determined than ever to defend their rights and gains, despite the policy of the stick and repression orchestrated by the Minister of Justice and Liberties against the court secretariats and particularly the honest militants of the Democratic Union of Justice. These two demonstrations, which will surely not be the last, are organised to protest against the unjust and unconstitutional measures taken by the Minister of Justice. Starting with his decision to deduct strike days from the salaries of strikers. Other arbitrary decisions have been taken, namely the boycott of any dialogue with the SDJ, the abusive dismissal of the head of the court secretariat of the Ksar Lakbir tribunal, Fakhreddine Benhaddou, and the exclusion of the secretary general of the said union, Abdessadek Saaidi, from the programme Moubacharatan Maakoum.
