The first edition of the Ouarzazate International Film Festival will be held from 7 to 9 April under the sign of the "Thousand and One Nights". This cinematographic event, organised in partnership with the regional and communal councils, the prefecture of the Ouarzazate province, the Council of the Drâa-Tafilalt region and the film committee, will see the organisation of competitions for films and cinematographic make-up, which will see participants representing several countries compete for the prizes for best director, actor and screenplay as well as that of the best make-up artist around the theme "The Living Dead", indicates a statement from the "Morocco Youth" Association, organiser of the event.
The festival, which will see the participation of films representing several countries, including Tunisia, France, the United States and Canada, will be an opportunity to pay tribute to leading figures of the 7th art, in recognition of their actions in favour of the promotion of national cinema.
This first edition of the Ouarzazate International Film Festival plans the organisation of artistic and musical concerts, training workshops, an exhibition of photos and paintings presented at the cinema museum, a screening of films planned in different spaces of the city and a caravan that will travel through the main arteries of Ouarzazate.
The festival also sets itself the objectives of weaving ties between national and international production companies, highlighting filming locations and studios, allowing young people to express themselves and training them in cinema professions through training sessions.
Let us finally note that Ouarzazate is one of the most important cities in the world of cinema at the global level, where many American and international films have been shot.
As a result, films on the history of Egyptian and Chinese civilisations and episodes of international series have made it possible to enhance the city's notoriety in the field of cinematographic production at the global level.
