The draft action plan for the promotion of the Ouarzazate destination, which concerns the fields of tourism, film production, and solar energy in particular, was presented during a meeting organised on Monday in this city. This project is based on a participatory approach between the various institutions concerned with the objective of creating activities intended to attract more tourists, both national and foreign. Speaking during this meeting chaired by the governor of the Ouarzazate province, Saleh Benyettou, the director of the Provincial Tourism Council (CPT) of Ouarzazate, Zoubir Bouhout, called for working to find the appropriate formula for a partnership agreement between these institutions, including the Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT), the Souss-Massa-Draa region, the Ouarzazate province, the Moroccan Cinematographic Centre (CCM), the Masen agency, and the CPT. He called, in the same vein, to overcome the lack of coordination between the actors concerned. Zoubir Bouhout estimated that the dynamic that the city of Ouarzazate and its region is currently experiencing must be maintained, or even strengthened, deploring certain problems from which the tourism sector suffers at the local level. He cited, as an example, the financial difficulties of certain tourist establishments, problems linked to social conflicts, the degradation of the quality of services, the organisation of the sector, the insufficiency of entertainment, as well as isolation and the lack of air and land connections. Zoubir Bouhout made it known, in the same context, that the tourist infrastructure in Ouarzazate will be strengthened soon, through the creation of two tourist zones in Tarmikte and Areghouine which are called upon to attract more tourists and consolidate the position of this destination at the national level.
