The Ouarzazate judicial police managed to identify the perpetrator of a homicide, committed on Saturday against a petit taxi driver, thanks to a hat abandoned at the crime scene by the killer. Informed of the collision of a petit taxi against an electric pole, with the lifeless body of the driver inside the vehicle, the elements of the judicial police noted on the spot that the victim had received blows dealt with a sharp tool at the neck level and learned that a girl, presenting similar injuries, is hospitalised at the provincial hospital of Ouarzazate. In her deposition, the girl stated that at the moment she was taking a taxi, an individual sat in the back seat of the vehicle and asked the driver to take him to the Tabount district, falling under the rural commune of Tarmigt, which is forbidden to petit taxis. Faced with the driver's refusal, the individual surprised him as well as the girl by dealing them knife blows to the neck, before fleeing. The taxi driver had tried to reach the hospital as quickly as possible, before succumbing to his injuries. Following preliminary investigations, the employees of a bar where the suspect was on the very evening of the crime, questioned by the judicial police, recognised the owner of the hat and glasses found at the crime scene and provided certain indications about the individual, who lives in the Tabount district and who serves in the Army. Arrested, the suspect admitted the facts he is accused of. After reconstruction of the crime on Sunday, he was handed over to the competent authorities, pending being referred to justice.
