The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in the city of Laayoune experienced, during the month of last November, an increase of 0.5% compared to the previous month.
This slight increase results from a rise in the food index of 1.1%, against a decrease in the non-food index of 0.1%, according to a note from the Regional Directorate of the High Commission for Planning (HCP) in Laayoune-Sakia Al Hamra.
Thus, the index of the "Food products and non-alcoholic beverages" division increased between October and November 2024 by 1.2%, specifies the same source, noting that this rise in food products concerns in particular the prices of "Oils and fats" by 3.9%, "Vegetables" by 3.5%, "Meat" by 1.7%, "Milk, cheese and eggs" by 0.8%, and "Fish and seafood" by 0.6%, reports the MAP.
Compared to the same month of the previous year, the consumer price index for the city of Laayoune increased by 3.3% during the month of November 2024. This increase results from a rise in the prices of food products by 6.7%, and the prices of non-food products by 0.5%.
The percentage variation for non-food items varied from a decrease of 4% for "Transport" to an increase of 3% for "Housing, water, electricity and other fuels".
The CPI, which is intended to be an instrument for measuring inflation, contributes to the monitoring and analysis of the economic situation and constitutes an essential element for the implementation of financial policy and the indexation of contracts between the various socio-economic partners.
