The Sheikh of Moroccan reciters, the scholar Tayeb Kahl El Ouyoun, passed away on the morning of Saturday, 17 Rajab 1446, corresponding to 18 January 2025, in the city of Rabat, at the age of 94. May God have mercy on him, he was one of the first reciters to gain fame in Morocco in the early 1940s, as his melodious voice captivated Moroccans with his recitation of the Holy Quran in the authentic Moroccan style.
Many Moroccans during the 1940s became familiar with Haj Tayeb Kahl El Ouyoun, who was born in Marrakech in 1931, and enjoyed his sweet voice through the airwaves of the Dar Si Said radio station in Marrakech, which broadcast his recitation of the Holy Quran.
