Laâyoune: Focus on the role of technology and AI in the protection of human rights
The role of technology and artificial intelligence (AI) in the protection of human rights was highlighted during a meeting recently organised in Laâyoune, at the initiative of the Sahara Observatory for Peace, Democracy and Human Rights (OSPDH).

Held on the occasion of the International Human Rights Day, under the theme "Digitalisation for Change: Three Years of Digital Advocacy for Human Rights", this meeting was an opportunity to present the three-year review of OSPDH's digital advocacy work in the field of human rights.

On this occasion, the President of OSPDH, Aïcha Duihi, reviewed the achievements and challenges of digital advocacy, as well as future initiatives on which the Observatory will rely to strengthen the protection of human rights, through the use of cutting-edge technologies.

She also indicated that the Observatory has organised a series of training workshops for media students on creating content related to human rights, as well as on digital advocacy, in order to enable them to use their media skills for the benefit of human rights issues.

Similarly, Ms. Duihi announced that a meeting was held with academics in the field of human rights, journalists, technology experts and civil society actors, on digital advocacy for the promotion of human rights, during which emphasis was placed on the need to enrich the debate on the use of digital technologies as a primary tool for ensuring the protection of human rights.
