The city of Laâyoune is hosting the ISTA industrial week from 7 to 13 May to raise students' awareness of the industrial sector and its trades, which constitutes a means to promote meetings between industrialists and students and trainees. This week, which is held under the theme "Safety is also responsibility", is organised by the Specialised Institute of Applied Technology of Laâyoune (ISTA) and constitutes an opportunity for meetings between trainees and industry professionals, who will visit workshops and learn about the major industrial players in the Southern provinces. And during which students can discover the industrial sector and its trades and highlight employment prospects in industrial sectors and future trades. According to the organisers, the goal of this industrial week is to organise an event between trainees, industrialists and experts in the field, around several themes concerning industry and its challenges in the Southern provinces. Thus increasing the chances of trainees being recruited by the participating companies and firms. And also to motivate students and increase their desire to learn, to facilitate their integration into active life and allow them to be better informed and oriented by having a clearer vision of the challenges and functioning of a company. And to add that the idea of this week was born from the desire to bring the educational and student world of the ISTA closer to that of industry in order to prepare the integration of young people into the world of work and to make them want to become entrepreneurs, and to set off to discover the company through various awareness-raising actions. Several activities are scheduled during this week including open days, company visits, workshops for discovering the industrial environment, round tables, information forums, and exhibitions. Conferences will also be organised during these meetings in order to have a precise description of each theme, to evoke its various aspects that interest students, and the evolution of the local industrial sector. Let us recall that the Laâyoune-Boujdour-Sakia El Hamra region will see the creation of an economic activity zone which should boost industrial activities and which will be carried out in partnership with the craft department, the Southern Agency and the Caisse de DépÓt et de Gestion (CDG Développement) on an area of approximately 140 ha, of which 30 ha have already been mobilised.
