The family visit exchange operation, led by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) between the Tindouf camps, in Algerian territory, and the Southern provinces of the Kingdom, continued on Wednesday with the organisation of the 10th trip for the year 2012.

This operation benefited 286 people belonging to 53 families, indicates a press release from the Coordination office with MINURSO.

Thus, 150 people belonging to 28 families from the Laâyoune province boarded a UN aircraft at Laâyoune airport bound for Tindouf, while 136 people from 25 families coming from the Tindouf camps disembarked from the same plane, according to the same source.

Everything was done to ensure that the operation took place in good conditions, it is added.

After this operation, the total number of people who have benefited from family visits since March 2004 amounts to 13,027 (6,224 departing from the Southern provinces and 6,803 coming from the Tindouf camps).
