It is Sunday, March 18. It was 10 a.m. when the police van arrived at the Court of First Instance of Khénifra to bring the accused before the Court. This goes to show that justice knows no Sunday truce. But that day, the premises of said court were to witness a story like no other. An unusual escape that would only last an hour. It all began when Jamal A., who was being brought to justice for attempted murder, asked the police officer that he urgently needed to relieve himself. A right guaranteed to him by law, of course. The police officer, after consultation, complied and accompanied the prisoner to the court's restrooms. Upon their arrival, the police officer was obliged to remove the handcuffs from the accused. The officer remained on the lookout outside the door, waiting for J.A., who suddenly burst out, collided head-on with his guardian angel, who was knocked down, while the accused ran through the court corridors and made a run for it. While the police officer was getting back up to raise the alarm, our man had vanished into the crowd. But it seems it was not a lucky day for the escapee from the Khénifra Court of First Instance. Arriving at the main Zerktouni Boulevard, he took a taxi to get as far away as possible and take shelter from the manhunt that had been triggered immediately after his escape. By bad luck, there was an off-duty police officer in that taxi. At first, the latter suspected nothing, but the escapee's attitude tipped him off. Following a small argument with the taxi driver, the escapee left the vehicle and rushed into the Ennajah district, not far from the Khénifra court. The police officer got out of the taxi and tailed the accused. After inquiring with his colleagues, the officer followed him, arrested him, and brought him back to square one, but this time with two charges: attempted murder and escaping from court. The accused is a notorious repeat offender who attempted to end a citizen's life using a blunt object.
