The kick-off of the 4th edition of the Spring of Art was given, Friday evening in Essaouira, by an exhibition of plastic arts organized at the Borj Bab Marrakech bastion.
This exhibition brings together works by some 67 artists representing the different regions of Morocco in addition to international artists from France, Poland, and Belgium.
The opening of this exhibition took place in the presence, notably, of the governor of the Essaouira province, Jamal Makhtatar, and lovers of Moroccan and foreign plastic arts.
In a statement to the MAP, Mohamed Tahdaini, president of the "Le printemps de l'art Mogador" association, initiator of this artistic event, indicated that the exhibition is intended as a platform for the exchange of experiences between participating artists.
This exhibition, which brings together artists representing different schools and artistic affinities, intends to eliminate the barriers between amateur and confirmed professional artists, he said.
The Belgian artist Philippe Gorin, who has lived and worked in Essaouira for nearly six months, said, for his part, that he was impressed by the spirit of openness and tolerance that characterizes Moroccans, highlighting the dynamism of the artistic movement that is developing more and more in Morocco.
Regarding the 4th edition of the Spring of Art, he noted that this artistic festival allows local and foreign artists to present their works to a public thirsty for culture.
Organized with the support of the Ministry of Culture, the 4th edition of the Spring of Art, which will continue until April 10, is held this year under the theme "Art and communication."
The program for this 2016 edition includes, notably, a painting workshop for the benefit of children from the Darna Association in Essaouira, led by the artist Abderrazzak Stitou in collaboration with the festival's artists, a round table on the festival's theme "Art, Mass and communication" at Dar Souiri, a sculpture exhibition at Dar Souiri, in addition to the presentation of a book by Mohamed Moatassim.
