The artistic group "Racines Fola" and the singer specialising in Madih and Samaâ chants, Abdellatif Tissa, presented an exceptional Ramadan evening on Tuesday at the Afifi Theatre in El Jadida, where Eastern and Western rhythms blended in perfect harmony.
This concert, organised by the French Institute in coordination with the Provincial Directorate of Culture of El Jadida and Sidi Bennour, is part of the "Ramadan Nights" programme, which spans two evenings, illustrating the dialogue between East and West and celebrating the fusion of French and Arab-Andalusian melodies.
The evening began with a remarkable musical performance by the group "Racines Fola," a multicultural collective of artists from diverse backgrounds, passionate about musical heritage. This group, bringing together musicians from Senegal, Morocco, and France, weaves artistic connections by fusing their respective musical heritages. Their performance reflected the richness of cultural dialogue through a blend of languages, styles, and rhythms, harmonising into a perfect universal symphony.
The audience was also treated to a selection of religious chants and praises, essential elements of Sufi music in Morocco, performed by the Al Afrah Association for Sufi Music and Religious Chants, led by singer Abdellatif Tissa.
On this occasion, Fatima Zahra Sahita, communications manager at the French Institute of El Jadida, highlighted in a statement to MAP that "Ramadan Nights" is hosting three different musical ensembles this year, united by the theme "Mediterranean Currents," noting that these ensembles explore a varied repertoire combining Melhoun, Andalusian music, and Oriental music.
Ms. Sahita added that these artistic performances highlight the spiritual depth of Sufi singing, an essential element of this musical practice, specifying that this edition offers musical evenings that touch the soul and open the heart, thus providing the audience with a unique sensory and spiritual experience.
It should be noted that "Ramadan Nights" was first organised in 2007 in El Jadida, before expanding to the entire Kingdom.
According to a statement from the Institute, this event has, for nearly 20 years, successfully brought together some 20,000 music enthusiasts in a family-friendly and convivial atmosphere.
It showcases Moroccan and French music, creating a space for cultural exchange and the promotion of universal values of dialogue, respect, tolerance, and sharing, which characterise world music.

The Lamsa Club for Arts is organising, on Saturday in Tangier, the artistic workshop "Wool Art Workshop: Weaving Stories into Felt."
This workshop, initiated in partnership with the Ponts de lecture Association, under the supervision of the Regional Directorate of Youth, Culture and Communication, will be held at the Maison des jeunes de Hasnouna.
