The Moroccan Women Writers League and the African Women Writers League organised a symposium on 25, 26 and 27 January in the city of Dakhla, under the theme: "Orientation towards Africa. The dimensions of the Moroccan-African partnership", with the support of the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, the culture section of the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab Regional Council and other partners.
Badiâa Radi, President of the Association of Women Writers of Morocco and Africa, indicated that "as part of the implementation of the League's annual cultural programme, we are organising this symposium in Dakhla today, following the one on African cultural development held last May in the province of Assa-Zag (Guelmim-Oued Noun region)", stressing that the cultural question remains at the heart of any development process, whether economic, commercial or social.
During her speech, Badiâa Radi highlighted the pioneering role of culture, considering it a vector of cooperation and solidarity to build a future where the African citizen is at the centre of the development of their continent, which still needs the commitment of all its children for an independent, productive and equitable Africa.
She added that Morocco's strategic anchoring in Africa is not a simple temporary ideological choice, but reflects a desire to build bridges of communication with African countries in a win-win approach, through the realisation of major development projects serving African peoples, their social security, their economic prosperity and their political stability.
Furthermore, the participants in this symposium, of which Ghana was the guest of honour, stressed that the theme of this congress is of capital importance, given the international, regional and local contexts, as well as the rapid changes in the balance of power and the complexity of major international interests and their impacts on geopolitical, economic and social situations.
According to them, the orientation towards Africa today, from the perspective of African development within the framework of international contexts, is not a luxury or a cyclical subject, but a fundamental issue requiring the reading of a global system for the management of cross-border relations.
They also stressed that international challenges must encourage Africa, today more than ever, both peoples and States, towards solidarity and cooperation, as well as the implementation of effective strategies to strengthen ties through the opening of all maritime, air and land corridors, with a view to consolidating connections between African cities.
The participants also focused on stability and security in Africa, the true keys to establishing real African development, allowing for the fight against all forms of extremism and cross-border crime, while calling for the resolution of regional conflicts through dialogue, far from narrow political considerations, in order to build a united, solidary and productive Africa.
In the same vein, they welcomed the decision taken by the Republic of Ghana to withdraw its recognition of the pseudo-"rasd" and to suspend its relations with this chimerical entity.
