The Royal Gendarmerie of Bouznika recently intercepted and seized a vehicle bearing false registration plates, loaded with 26,300 packets of cigarettes of various brands from smuggling, with a value estimated at 841,600 DH, it was learned on Sunday. The interception of this vehicle was carried out on Friday on the road linking Rabat to Casablanca. The investigations undertaken revealed that the driver, a repeat offender wanted by the police, fled, leaving behind his wife, who attempted to bribe the members of the patrol. The accused was arrested and presented to justice. The merchandise, the vehicle as well as a sum of money were seized and investigations are continuing.
