His Majesty King Mohammed VI gives a strong boost to urban development projects in the Oriental region
By proceeding on Wednesday in Oujda to the launch of the urban upgrading programmes for the communes of Bni Drar and Naima, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, gives a strong boost to urban development projects in the Oriental region and to the Royal Initiative for the development of this region.
Intended to improve the living environment of local populations, strengthen basic infrastructure, and preserve the environment, these programmes provide in particular for the redevelopment and strengthening of the road network, the rehabilitation and extension of the liquid sanitation network, the creation of wastewater treatment plants in the two communes, the protection of the city of Bni Drar against floods, in addition to the completion of road works. Endowed with a total budget of more than 176 million dirhams (MDH), the urban upgrading programme for the city of Bni Drar focuses, in its urban qualification component (57 MDH), on the realisation, with the contribution of the National Initiative for Human Development, of a covered sports hall, a football pitch, public squares, and green spaces, in addition to the renovation of the public lighting and signage network.
