Beni Mellal – The quantities of subsidised nitrogen fertilisers distributed so far in the Beni Mellal-Khenifra region have reached over 114,000 quintals for the benefit of 7,716 farmers, i.e., 73 per cent of the quota allocated to the region.
This operation, which falls within the framework of the national programme to mitigate the effects of delayed rainfall and the global situation on agricultural activity, and to maintain the stability of nitrogen fertiliser prices and make them accessible to farmers, saw the distribution of a total of 114,377 quintals in the region as of March 19, including 59,901 quintals in the area under the jurisdiction of the Tadla Regional Office for Agricultural Investment for the benefit of 2,486 farmers (85 per cent).
In this regard, and with the aim of facilitating the distribution process of these fertilisers and in line with the proximity policy adopted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests, 12 connection centres have been opened, spread across the five provinces of the Beni Mellal-Khenifra region, including 3 centres located in the area under the jurisdiction of the Tadla Regional Office for Agricultural Investment, based in Fquih Ben Salah, Ahad Boumoussa, and Ouled M'Barek.
The quota allocated to the Beni Mellal-Khenifra region for subsidised nitrogen fertilisers for the 2024-2025 agricultural season reached a total of 156,435 quintals, including 70,263 quintals allocated to the area under the jurisdiction of the Tadla Regional Office for Agricultural Investment.
This operation is distributed among different types of fertilisers, namely urea (5,907 quintals), ammonitrates (50,885 quintals), and ammonium sulphate (3,109 quintals).
As for the subsidised prices for the sale of various types of fertilisers for the current agricultural season, they have been set at 330 dirhams per quintal for urea at 46 per cent (subsidy rate of 35 per cent), 240 dirhams per quintal for the ammonitrate variety at 33.5 per cent (subsidy rate of 41 per cent), and 150 dirhams per quintal for the ammonium sulphate variety at 21 per cent (subsidy rate of 53 per cent).
