New social projects in Beni Mellal: Strong royal impetus for INDH programmes

Beni Mellal - His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, proceeded on Saturday in Beni Mellal to the inauguration of several INDH projects, thus giving a strong and new impetus to this reign project intended to upgrade human capital and improve the living conditions of the populations of the different regions of the Kingdom.
New social projects in Beni Mellal: Strong royal impetus for INDH programmes

These include the "Al Qods" multifunctional social centre, the Lalla Aicha socio-cultural centre, a home for the elderly in Beni Mellal, as well as a multifunctional social centre in the Kesbat Tadla commune, a Mother's house in the El Ksiba commune and a Student's house in the Ouled Youssef commune.

These projects, carried out for a total investment of nearly 35.8 million dirhams, including an INDH contribution of 25.7 MDH, aim to strengthen local facilities, promote the conditions of women and young girls, improve the living environment of local populations, and fight against illiteracy, school dropouts, exclusion and poverty.

They stem from the Sovereign's vision which places the human element at the centre of the major projects launched throughout the Kingdom, and testify to the credibility and relevance of the objectives set and the implementation mechanisms of the INDH, a royal initiative that celebrates its ninth anniversary this Sunday.

On this occasion, the Sovereign visited the "Al Qods" multifunctional social centre, which is organised into seven hubs: Children and young people in difficult situations; Vocational training; Women in difficult situations; Abandoned disabled children; Autistic children; Medical awareness for the deaf and dumb, and promotion of income-generating activities (AGR).

This new social structure aims to improve the socio-professional skills of young people and women, to promote the integration of people with specific needs into society, to support women in difficult situations and to take care of abandoned disabled children.

It should be noted that the Beni Mellal province, for the 2011-2014 period, has seen the completion of 398 INDH projects, for a total investment of more than 137 million dirhams. The INDH contributes 88.06 million DH.

Benefiting nearly 105,000 people, these projects are part of the four INDH programmes, namely: the fight against poverty in rural areas (63 projects), the fight against precariousness (18 projects), the transversal programme (187 projects), and the fight against social exclusion in urban areas (130 projects).

Furthermore, 141 income-generating projects were carried out during the same period in the province for the benefit of 5,381 people. With a strong social impact, these projects required a total budget of 34.55 million dirhams, with an INDH contribution of 23.53 million DH.

Regarding the implementation of the fifth INDH programme - the territorial upgrading programme - it is planned, for the 2011-2015 period, to carry out several projects in the Tadla Azilal region relating to the sectors of roads, electrification, education, health and drinking water.

These projects, which mobilise investments of nearly 542.5 MDH, consist of the construction of 109.2 km and the development of 22 km of roads, the connection of 216 Douars to the electricity network, the supply of drinking water to 86 Douars, the construction of 134 staff housing units for teachers and 21 other units for medical and paramedical staff (nurses, midwives), as well as the acquisition of five ambulances.

They aim, among other things, to improve the living conditions of the populations of certain mountainous or isolated areas, to reduce disparities in access to basic infrastructure, facilities and local services, and to include the populations of these areas in the dynamic triggered by the INDH.

These various INDH projects stem from an approach aimed at meeting the needs of the targeted populations by involving the beneficiary parties and local actors, by mobilising regular operating budgets and by ensuring convergence with sectoral programmes, according to an integrated vision with beneficial social outcomes.
