The municipality of Aït Ourir, in the province of Al Haouz, has just acquired a socio-cultural and museum space dedicated to the Resistance and the Liberation Army.
Built on an area of 265 m², the space was inaugurated by the High Commissioner for Former Resistance Fighters and Former Members of the Liberation Army, Mustapha El-Ktiri, the Governor of the province of Al Haouz, Younès El Bathaoui, and the President of the Marrakech-Tensift-Al Haouz region, Ahmed Touizi. This new structure was built for a total amount of 1.1 million dirhams as part of a partnership between the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH), the provincial council of Al-Haouz, and the municipal council of Aït Ourir.
In line with the efforts made by the High Commission to improve the quality of services provided to the family of the Resistance and the Liberation Army, this new facility aims in particular to build bridges with the younger generation and instil in them the values of patriotism, sacrifice, and citizenship.
This socio-cultural space, one of 52 museum structures that the High Commission intends to build at the national level, includes, among other things, an information and training room, a conference room, a library, and an exhibition and performance hall. It is a place whose vocation is to keep the national memory alive and also to be an educational centre intended to teach the values of citizenship to Moroccan youth.
Historical documents and manuscripts will be exhibited there, as well as clothing, testimonies, masterpieces, and materials and weapons used in the resistance and the fight against the occupying forces.
This living space will also allow younger generations to learn about both this heritage of national memory dedicated to all those who sacrificed themselves for freedom and dignity, and the history of their country as a fundamental component of Moroccan culture and civilisation.
The inauguration ceremony of this museum space took place in the presence of parliamentarians from the province, local elected officials, civil society actors, and members of the family of the Resistance and the Liberation Army.
