Bijaouane Square in Agadir vibrates to the rhythm of the atmosphere created by the educational village of the National Office of Electricity and Potable Water (ONEE), officially launched on Tuesday, October 14th, for a week of awareness and education on the environment for the benefit of schoolchildren in the city and its surroundings. The opening ceremony was presided over by the Wali of the Souss-Massa-Draâ region and Governor of the Agadir Ida Outanane Prefecture, Mohamed El Yazid Zellou, in the presence of numerous personalities including representatives of elected officials, the Ministry of National Education, and ONEE.
And as usual, the press was present to cover the event. There were pros but also some holders of the Lalla Hasnaa "Young Reporters" trophy. They toured the village crowded with children who stormed the workshops from the first hours of the morning. They were able to film, take notes, and record the intense activity in the thematic workshops with these debates between children and monitors around water and electricity saving, waste treatment... In these stands, schoolchildren are advised of the threats weighing on the environment and are advised on the behaviors to adopt to thwart them. Interactive electronic games and ecological films complement this so that the child is sufficiently informed on the subject and well determined to put into practice the lessons learned.
For the officials, the goal is to turn these schoolchildren into a transmission belt for the "All for a sustainable coastline" action, initiated by ONEE and which is part of the new guidelines of the "Clean Beaches" program of the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Protection of the Environment, chaired by H.R.H. Princess Lalla Hasnaa. This stop in Agadir is the 4th included in the program of the traveling village caravan, after those of Bouznika, Casablanca, and Sidi Bennour. Two other stops are planned in Tiznit (Oct. 20-24) and Dakhla (Oct. 31-Nov. 6), a period which coincides with the commemoration of the prestigious Green March festival.
