The Collective for the eradication of the work of "little maids" will organize a sit-in on April 16 in front of the Agadir Court of Appeal in tribute to little Fatima who, let us recall, died on March 24 at the Hassan II Hospital in Agadir following third-degree burns on several parts of her body. The Collective calls for the support of all concerned actors, institutional, social, and national and international media to participate in this demonstration and contribute to the abolition of domestic work for girls under 15 years of age. Faced with the legal vacuum regarding the protection of these children against all forms of exploitation, the Collective demands a specific law that sanctions the employment of girls under 15 years of age. It is also a question for the collective of defining the role of the State and its means to protect these girls who are likely to be victims of domestic work and to specify the sanctions, modalities, and means of their execution vis-à-vis all actors linked to the problem of "little maids," each according to their level of involvement. To optimize actions and constitute an effective monitoring system, the Collective calls for harmonizing and coordinating public policies for the eradication of the work of "little maids," at the national and local level.
In Morocco, domestic work concerns tens of thousands of "little maids," deprived of their fundamental rights, removed from any family protection, and excluded from the educational system and the right to schooling.
