Drinking water: The SRM Casablanca-Settat inaugurates a new demineralisation plant in Berrechid

This project consists of the installation of a monobloc brackish water demineralisation plant, with a capacity of 30 litres per second, equivalent to 2,600 cubic metres per day. The water treatment relies on reverse osmosis technology, which allows for high-quality treated water to be obtained while respecting the environment.



On this occasion, Mohamed El Qebbaj, Provincial Director of Berrechid at the SRM Casablanca-Settat, stated: "this plant is part of the nine monobloc demineralisation and brackish water desalination plants planned for the Berrechid province, as part of the programme launched by the Ministry of the Interior. A programme that provides, in fact, for the construction of 33 similar plants across the Casablanca-Settat region, with a total produced flow of 255 litres per second".

This project, financed by the Ministry of the Interior, is part of the efforts deployed to deal with the situation of water stress. It allows for the treatment of brackish water, in order to use it for drinking water supply, thus meeting the growing needs for this vital resource.

The inauguration of this new plant took place in the presence of the Governor of the Berrechid province, local authorities, as well as the Provincial Director of Berrechid of the SRM Casablanca-Settat and representatives of the regional company.
