School year start: Benmoussa on a field visit in the Casablanca-Settat region

Chakib Benmoussa, alongside the Governor of the Berrechid province, Noureddine Ouabbou, began his tour with a visit to the Abdelkrim El Khattabi middle school, an establishment newly created and equipped with the necessary facilities to welcome students for this school year in the best possible conditions.



Subsequently, the minister visited the Mustapha El Maani primary school, which benefited from rehabilitation and maintenance of its various facilities, in addition to the creation of spaces meeting the needs of students in terms of learning, innovation, and development.

In the Settat province, the minister went, accompanied by the governor of this province, Ibrahim Abouzaid, to the Mouad Ibn Jabal primary school, the establishment that underwent a complete renovation, including the restoration of all facilities, maintenance of sanitary facilities, layout of spaces for better accessibility, as well as maintenance of the school fences to ensure a secure school environment.

The minister's tour concluded with an inspection of the Mgarto middle school, located in the Mgarto commune and which falls under the Provincial Directorate of the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports of Settat. This establishment was built in partnership between the Regional Academy of Education and Training (AREF) Casablanca-Settat, the Casablanca-Settat Regional Council, the Mgarto commune, and civil society associations, with the objective of expanding the educational offer, promoting equal opportunities between urban and rural areas, and reducing school dropout, in accordance with the strategic objectives of the 2022-2026 roadmap for education reform.

In a statement to the press, Mr. Benmoussa emphasized that these visits are part of the monitoring of the realization of infrastructure and the strengthening of the teaching offer, through the creation and rehabilitation of school establishments, the improvement of their spaces, and the securing of their environment. The ministry, he continued, aims in this sense to create attractive reception spaces, offering adequate conditions to improve the quality of learning.

“These efforts will also contribute to guaranteeing working conditions adapted to the needs of teachers, in addition to providing the necessary didactic means and school materials, while ensuring the cleanliness and safety of the school environment,” noted Mr. Benmoussa, noting that the objective is to promote a school environment conducive to the acquisition of knowledge and skills by students, allowing them to succeed in their school and professional path, while strengthening their development and sense of citizenship.

For his part, the Director of the AREF Casablanca-Settat, Abdelmoumen Talib, indicated that the minister's visit has the mission of informing himself about the progress of the rehabilitation and construction works of school establishments, as well as ensuring good conditions for the 2024/2025 school year in the region.

Abdellatif Maazouz, President of the Casablanca-Settat Regional Council, emphasized in turn that the Mgarto middle school, the result of a partnership between several stakeholders, is a pilot school establishment that has a boarding school allowing particularly to encourage young girls to continue their schooling and to reduce school dropout.

According to the ministry, these visits are part of the implementation of the programs of the 2022-2026 roadmap, “For a quality public school for all,” notably regarding the expansion of the school offer and the rehabilitation of school establishments in favor of an attractive and safe learning environment for students and educational and administrative staff.
