Errachidia РThe opportunities and challenges associated with women's entrepreneurship in the oases of the Dr̢a-Tafilalet region were the focus of a seminar organised last Thursday in Aoufous, in the Errachidia province.
This meeting, organised at the initiative of the European Institute for Cooperation and Development (IECD) in Morocco, was an opportunity to highlight the various constraints facing the women's entrepreneurship ecosystem, as well as the opportunities and means that could better promote women's participation in the regional economic fabric.
During this meeting, which was attended by representatives of the National Agency for the Development of Oases and Argan Trees (ANDZOA), National Mutual Aid, the Regional Directorate of Agriculture of Drâa-Tafilalet, and the National Agency for the Promotion of Employment and Skills (ANAPEC), the focus was on the efforts made by public actors in the field of improving the conditions and status of women and ways to strengthen the capacities of this segment of society and empower them economically so that they can play a more important role in the development of society.
The Executive Director of the IECD in Morocco, Nabil Jedri, highlighted in a statement to the Maghreb Arabe Presse (MAP) that this meeting, which is part of a series of events organised by the Institute in the Drâa-Tafilalet region, aims to create a space for exchange and interaction with key actors in the field of women's entrepreneurship in particular.
He added, "We are taking this opportunity to present to local and regional actors the first results of a regional diagnostic study related to gender conducted by the IECD in Morocco, before incorporating these results based on the proposals and opinions of local actors and drafting a document to invest in other initiatives aimed at promoting economic development in the region."
For her part, the president of the Al-Amal Cooperative for the valorisation of palm tree waste, Nouhaila Hassani Alaoui, confirmed the full benefit of the youth entrepreneur support project overseen by the IECD in cooperation with key actors in the region, with the aim of strengthening a comprehensive ecosystem suitable for creating and promoting economic activities for the benefit of young men and women in the Drâa-Tafilalet region.
This meeting, which saw the participation of many women's cooperatives and civil society actors, was also an opportunity for many women to present their successful experiences and future prospects and to review the various obstacles facing women's cooperatives in the region, especially marketing, project development, access to finance, or access to information.
