Al Haouz Province: Targeting more than 48,000 people within the framework of the plan to mitigate the effects of the cold

These data were revealed during a meeting of the Provincial Committee for Vigilance to limit the negative effects of the harsh cold wave, today, Monday, in Tahnaout, chaired by the Governor of the province, Rachid Benchikhi, in the presence of, in particular, representatives of various relevant services, dedicated to reviewing the various measures taken to mitigate these effects for the 2024-2025 winter period.

According to the same data, the target population at the province level is distributed among 150 Douars, of which 38 Douars are classified in the red zone of high risk.

In the health field, health services have been strengthened through mobilising 32 general practitioners, 11 specialist doctors, and 111 nurses, in addition to equipping 86 ambulances and scheduling 187 field visits for medical teams, with the organisation of five specialised medical campaigns.

In the logistical field, 95 machines for snow removal have been deployed, distributed in the most affected areas, and advanced centres fully equipped have been established to ensure rapid intervention.

Communication and energy infrastructure have also been strengthened, including improving the mobile phone network in remote areas and replacing damaged electricity poles. In addition, work is underway to develop an early warning system via smartphone applications to provide immediate information to the population about weather conditions.

On the other hand, the measures also include distributing basic materials such as firewood, improved stoves, and blankets for the benefit of affected families, as well as supporting schools with 75 tons of firewood and 7,500 blankets to ensure the continuation of studies.

The provincial plan to face the repercussions of the harsh cold at the level of the Al Haouz province targets more than 48,000 people, including 16,000 children and 6,000 elderly people, with a focus on providing support to vulnerable groups.
