Al Haouz: Proactive measures to mitigate the effects of the cold wave
Chaired by the governor of the province, Rachid Benchikhi, in the presence of representatives of the concerned services, this meeting comes within the framework of the High Orientations of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, and is in line with the efforts made at the national level to cope with the harshness of the climate.

During this meeting, the plan put in place by the Provincial Vigilance and Monitoring Committee to combat the negative effects of the cold wave was presented, aiming to protect the populations of the affected areas, particularly in mountainous areas exposed to snowfall and low temperatures.

In his speech, the governor insisted on the importance of continuous coordination and increased mobilization of the various actors in order to help the most vulnerable populations face the consequences of the cold.

He recalled, to this effect, that the mountainous nature of Al Haouz province makes this part of the national territory a zone particularly sensitive to climatic fluctuations.

Mr. Benchikhi also reviewed the main measures taken within the framework of this plan, notably the updating of the lists of communes and Douars threatened by the cold and the census of pregnant women due to give birth during the winter, while ensuring rigorous monitoring of their condition and care in maternity homes in case of a weather alert.

This action plan, which reflects a comprehensive strategic vision also involving associative actors, also aims to ensure monitoring of the elderly suffering from chronic diseases and to equip authority agents with satellite phones in isolated areas.

Regarding the health aspect, the provincial delegate of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection in Al Haouz, Mohamed Ouchk, reported the organization, to date, of 104 field visits that have provided care to more than 17,150 people, in addition to 23 medical caravans.

He affirmed, in this sense, that the mobilization will continue to ensure the necessary care and monitoring for the concerned populations.

For his part, the provincial director of Equipment and Water in Al Haouz, Youssef Ouardouni, stressed that the sector's teams are strongly mobilized for road maintenance and the provision of intervention means, particularly in the areas of Oukaïmeden, Taddart, and Ijoukak.

He specified that 428 kilometers of classified roads and several rural tracks are under increased surveillance to prevent any interruption of traffic.

This meeting was also marked by the presentation of detailed reports by representatives of the concerned sectors, highlighting the joint efforts deployed to mitigate the impact of the cold wave on the inhabitants of the province.
