The event aims to promote ancestral Moroccan art and perpetuate its dissemination among young people, as well as to preserve and enhance this cultural heritage.
The proceedings of the 6th meeting of Andalusian music enthusiasts opened on Thursday evening in Tangier under the theme of "youth".
Speaking at the opening of this meeting, held under the High Patronage of H.M. King Mohammed VI, the president of the Nassaim Al Andalous Association of Andalusian music enthusiasts, which initiated this event, Ahmed Guennoun, assured that this event aims to promote ancestral Moroccan art and perpetuate its dissemination among young people, as well as to preserve and enhance this cultural heritage.
This edition aims to offer fans of authentic Andalusian music concerts that will be given by both young amateurs and great Andalusian music artists from Tangier, Tetouan, Fez, and Casablanca, in order to ensure the sustainability of this cultural heritage, to strengthen the culture of recognition for the great masters of this art, and to meet the expectations of the Tangier public keen on this music, he specified.
In this sense, Ahmed Guennoun indicated that the organization of this event is dictated by the need to strengthen the cultural and artistic development of the city of the Strait and to meet the expectations of its population in this area, in order to accompany the structural development projects aimed at raising the city of Tangier to the rank of major international metropolises and to strengthen the cultural influence of the city of the Strait.
The opening ceremony of this edition was marked by the organization of a conference on Andalusian music, moderated by Ben Abdejalil Abdelaziz, Mohamed Merouch, and Mokhtar El Alami, which was dedicated to the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the passing of the late Larbi Sayar.
This meeting was an opportunity to highlight the creations of the late Larbi Sayar, born in Tangier in 1882, who was a great reference and one of the pioneers of Andalusian music and the art of Madih and Samaâ in Morocco, and to recognize his contribution to the enrichment of the Moroccan artistic scene with his writings and compositions.
This event was also marked by the exhibition of photos of the Larbi Sayar school and his instruments.
The Tangier public was treated during this first evening to an Andalusian music concert given by the great Orchestra of Cheikh Zaytouni, which performed works by the late Larbi Sayar, including "Mizane Dorj l'Auchak", "Mizane Kaim Wanisf Al Hijaz Al Machriki", and "Mizane Kaim Wanisf Rasd", while being transported by the poetry and the famous refrains of this music, sung in chorus by the audience.
This edition will also be punctuated by the organization of concerts that will be given by the "Rawafid" orchestras of Tangier, "Chababe" and "Labrihi" of Fez, as well as the "Dar Alia" Choir of Casablanca, in addition to the holding of the "Nezaha" tradition with the participation of all the orchestras.
The 6th meeting of Andalusian music enthusiasts aims to strengthen musical dialogue, within the framework of artistic interaction between the two shores of the Strait, by opening up more to several countries around the Mediterranean, with the ambition of promoting North-South and Maghreb-Europe cultural rapprochement.
The Nassaim Al Andalous Association of Andalusian music enthusiasts, created in 2009, aims to enrich the musical movement at the regional and national levels, revive Moroccan heritage, contribute to the development of musical education within the city of the Strait, and raise awareness among rising generations about this Andalusian music tradition.
