About a hundred families prevented from recovering their property in Sidi Harazem

About a hundred families prevented from recovering their property in Sidi Harazem

For the umpteenth time, the competent local authorities of Sidi Harazem still cannot execute a judicial decision. A community composed of several families is suffering greatly from this, as it cannot even approach its 467-hectare land, located near Sidi Harazem.

And for good reason, the elements of the gendarmerie "are not doing their job correctly," according to a witness. The latest incident dates back almost two weeks: the gendarmes, supposed to ensure the execution of the court's decision, remained far from the scene. Parking their only vehicle two kilometers away, the gendarmes were, according to the Benslimane family, the beneficiary of this order, giving a signal to crack down on potential troublemakers.

The inhabitants of the Douar, including a dozen people wanted by the justice system, prevented any execution, without valid reason, other than explicit threats made by some against members of the family who benefited from a judicial decision. "If we cannot enjoy our rights in our country, including the execution of a judicial decision, what can we expect from the authorities? Why are we not protected?" asks Driss Benslimane, one of the heirs of the family.

In the various reports drawn up by judicial officers regarding this case, one can read that about a hundred people, including children and women, forbid the competent judicial authorities from performing their work, claiming that this land, dedicated to agriculture, belongs to their ancestors.

On a part of this land, there are, according to the 2004 census, nearly 374 people, a mosque, a school, and a cemetery. The authorities are witnesses to the proliferation of unsanitary housing on this land, without the competent services intervening.
