Delegations of 500 children from countries in the Arab and Muslim world, Europe, Asia, America, and Africa will take part in the 8th edition of the International Festival of Children's Folklore (FIFE), which will be held from 17 to 24 August in Salé, according to the organisers. Initiated by the Bouregreg Association, this Festival is intended to be a place for meetings and exchanges between children from all continents, of different religions and cultures, so that they can absorb the culture of peace and tolerance, and to encourage symbiosis between peoples. A total of 22 countries have confirmed their participation in this edition, which is held under the honorary presidency of HRH Princess Lalla Meryem, indicated the Festival director, Abderrahmane Rwijel, on Tuesday in Salé during a press conference. Expected at this event are Georgia, Slovenia, Mexico, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Thailand, Ukraine, Indonesia, Venezuela, France, Spain, Russia, Belarus, Serbia, Poland, Malaysia, the United States, Libya, Palestine, Egypt, Ivory Coast, Gabon, and Congo-Brazzaville, he noted. The opening ceremony will take place at Bab Lamrissa Square in Salé, and as a preview, the folklore troupes will parade from the Martyrs' Square in Salé, passing through 2 March Avenue and Ben Aboud Avenue, to perform on the stage at Bab Lamrissa Square. Welcoming the success of previous editions, the director of the FIFE "Children of Peace" stressed that the organisation of one of the festival's activities in the city of Tangier stems from the organisers' desire to allow the public in other cities to attend shows that reflect the richness and diversity of world cultures. This edition, which plans the organisation of several shows in Rabat and Salé, will be marked by a call for peace that will be launched at the Parliament headquarters in Arabic, Amazigh, French, and English. On the sidelines of this event, evenings will be organised to allow children to exchange their expertise and to make known the cultures and traditions of their countries. The delegations participating in this Festival will visit historical monuments in the cities of Rabat and Salé as well as the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca. It should be recalled that the International Federation of Children's Folklore, some of whose members will be present during the 8th edition of the Festival, had elected the director of the International Festival of Children's Folklore as secretary general of the federation during the general assembly held last May.
