The Royal Moroccan Navy intervened yesterday to provide medical evacuation for two foreign ships near the port of Mohammedia.
A statement from the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces indicated that "a cargo ship named 'Linden' suffered an engine failure this morning, causing it to run aground 2.5 kilometres south-east of the port of Mohammedia. Upon receiving the distress signal, the Royal Navy immediately dispatched a helicopter to evacuate two crew members who were in critical health condition. A naval unit was also mobilised to the scene to monitor the distressed vessel and provide necessary support."
The same source added, "On the same day and not far from the accident site, the Royal Navy received another signal reporting three crew members in critical health condition aboard a Chinese cargo ship named 'Tai Hua Wan', which was docked near the port of Mohammedia. Another helicopter was promptly dispatched to evacuate the three injured individuals."
It was clarified that "both operations were carried out in close coordination with the Royal Gendarmerie and the Search and Rescue Operations Coordination Centre. The patients were handed over to the Civil Protection elements for necessary medical assistance."
