9,200 needy people in the Laâyoune province, including 2,400 living in rural areas, will benefit this year from the "Iftar" operation initiated by the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan. Launched on Wednesday in the presence of the Wali of the Laâyoune-Boujdour Sakia El-Hamra region, Governor of the Laâyoune province, Yahdih Bouchab, this operation, which involves the distribution of food supplies to needy households, will reach the cities of Laâyoune (6,000 beneficiaries), El Mersa (800), and the caïdats of Boukraa (800), Foum El Oued (800), and Dchira (800). This highly significant action in this blessed month, organised with the support of the Ministries of the Interior and of Habous and Islamic Affairs, reflects the constant royal solicitude towards disadvantaged social categories and reinforces the momentum of active solidarity that characterises Moroccan society. Mobilising a budget of 60 million dirhams, the "Ramadan 1435" operation is intended to provide aid to people in precarious situations, particularly widows, the elderly, and the disabled. It will benefit nearly 2.37 million people at the national level, grouped within 473,900 households, of which 403,000 live in rural areas, across all the provinces of the Kingdom. For the smooth running of this operation, thousands of people are mobilised, supported by social workers and volunteers, including students. The execution of this initiative also follows strict controls, notably at the level of two committees, one local and one provincial, which ensure on the ground the monitoring of the supply of distribution centres, the identification of beneficiaries, and the distribution of food supplies. "Iftar" is among the oldest and most important humanitarian actions organised annually by the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity since its creation.
