After Mustapha Salma: Another Sidi Mouloud joins the motherland

After Mustapha Salma: Another Sidi Mouloud joins the motherland

Bachir Boujemâa Nasri Ould Sidi Mouloud has fled the Tindouf camps, where he held the position of battalion commander in what is called the Sahrawi People's Liberation Army (SPLA). He has just returned to Morocco, and the city of Laâyoune has given him a very warm welcome. Bachir Nasri was one of the Polisario's loyalists until the day he discovered the sickening reality of the movement to which he had pledged unequivocal submission. He then realised that he was only serving Algerian generals to the detriment of the interests of the Sahrawi populations. The case of his cousin, Mustapha Salma Ould Sidi Mouloud, was at the root of Bachir Nasri's rebellion, who then became a fervent defender of the autonomy of the Saharan provinces as the only solution capable of allowing the inhabitants of these provinces to live in dignity and become masters of their own destiny. Thus, Bachir Nasri led several demonstrations in support of Mustapha Ould Sidi Mouloud and the Moroccan proposal for internal autonomy.

While Boujemaâ Ould Sidi Mouloud was able to evade the vigilance of the Polisario militia and the Algerian DRS agents stationed in the camps and return to the motherland, the musician Najim Allal did not have that luck.

Held captive for several months, Najim Allal is a defender of the autonomy project for the Moroccan southern provinces. It was this determination that initially led to him being banned from the airwaves of Polisario radio and television. Following this, his fans organised a camp in front of what is called the Polisario General Secretariat, prompting Abdelaziz's henchmen to lock him away. Since then, he continues to suffer the mistreatment inflicted upon him by his jailers. The most recent incident occurred last week when he was assaulted by his guards, who broke both his jaws and knocked out his teeth.

It was following this assault that the Action Committee for the Support of Mustapha Salma Ould Sidi Mouloud published a statement condemning the barbaric acts and human rights violations perpetrated against him by the Algerian gendarmerie and the Polisario militias. The committee is calling for the intervention of the international community to put an end to the suffering of the Polisario captives and the ordeal of the Sahrawi populations.

In its statement, the committee urges those who cherish justice to intervene with Algeria to free Najim Allal and put an end to the ordeal of the people in the camps.
