Eight players poisoned before the Throne Cup final

Eight players poisoned before the Throne Cup final

The final of the Women's Throne Cup in football scheduled for last Saturday has been postponed to a later date, and for good reason: the poisoning of eight players from the Chabab Atlas Khénifra club who received a medical certificate setting the duration of their unavailability at five days. An accident that comes at the wrong time since the club was preparing to play the final of the Throne Cup against AS FAR. According to the club's general secretary, Rachid Bouziane, the first player who felt pain was transported to the Agdal clinic on the night from Friday to Saturday. The other seven were hospitalised on Saturday after they too felt pain. "The players ate couscous on Friday. They started to feel the symptoms of poisoning at night. We transported the first player to the Agdal clinic to receive the necessary care. The next day, seven others felt the same pain. The attending physician issued a five-day medical certificate to the poisoned players. The doctor of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, Doctor Harati, came to observe that the players are in a state that does not allow them to play the final," he indicated to us. And he continued: "we cannot put the health of the players in danger. The right decision was to postpone the final," he specified. To the question of whether the FRMF has set a new date to play the final of the Throne Cup, Mr. Bouziane answered in the negative, while specifying that it could be played next weekend. It should be noted that Chabab Atlas Khénifra eliminated Nadi El Baladi de Laâyoune on Wednesday in the semi-final match by inflicting a heavy defeat, 6 to 2. For its part, AS FAR got the better of Wydad de Casablanca (5-2). The classification and final matches, scheduled for Saturday 21 June, have been postponed to a later date. A championship in two groups next season: The FRMF or at least those in charge of women's football showed a lack of ingenuity in terms of programming by scheduling the semi-finals and the final three days apart, knowing that the players cannot play two matches in 48 hours. The ideal would be to space the semi-finals and the final by a week. In addition, the semi-finals should be scheduled in a neutral stadium and not in Témara, a city close to Rabat. In another register, the commission for the homologation of women's football results has not, to this day, homologated the championship results. As a result, the clubs still do not know which teams are relegated. It should be noted that next season, the national championship will be played in two groups of 10 teams each.
