Ramadan in joy and happiness

Ramadan in joy and happiness

Like other cities in the Kingdom, the various centres under the province of Khénifra are not spared by the wind of happiness brought by the holy month of Ramadan where every night, men, women, young people, and children populate the main arteries of the cities, centres, and Douars. Several people prefer to stroll in the alleys of public gardens and green spaces of the city, to immerse themselves in reading newspapers or books, while waiting for the approach of the time for breaking the fast. During the night and after the al-isha prayer, other people, young people, old people, women with their families, prefer to wander in the avenues of the city or go to cafes to have a chat over a soda, a mint tea, or a strong coffee. When they do not go to sit in cafes, they prefer to visit family or neighbours, where warm meetings are held most of the time until after midnight, around tea with sweets and honey cakes, furnished by the varied programmes of the different television channels. Some simply prefer to go to the neighbourhood mosque to pray, listen to the divine word, and the religious recommendations dictated by the Holy Quran. In short, the breaking of the fast is, every evening, an occasion for family rejoicing, to which neighbours and friends are sometimes invited. On this occasion, a rich and varied programme including musical and artistic evenings, exhibitions of paintings, plastic arts, sporting meetings in football, basketball, and handball, has been developed jointly by the provincial delegations of Youth and Sports, National Mutual Aid, and sports and socio-cultural associations. On the cultural level, several religious conferences dealing with different aspects of faith are scheduled on several themes, either inside mosques, or at the headquarters of the Chamber of Commerce or at the level of youth houses. These conferences will be hosted by the Provincial Council of Ulema, university professors, and socio-cultural associations. At the level of controlling the prices of food and basic necessities, the economic service of the province held several meetings, both at the provincial level and at the local level, with sworn agents in the matter, on the one hand, and representatives of traders, on the other. The goal is to sensitise them to the fight against illicit price increases and the clandestine storage of food, so that the needs of households are properly ensured at the level of consumption in this month of abstinence and holiness. Furthermore, the Ramadan 1435 operation,

organised by the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, was prepared in good conditions. The total number of beneficiary households amounts this year to 6,900 needy families in the rural world and at the level of the urban centres of the province.
