The 15th edition of the Printemps musical des Alizés will be organised from 23 to 26 April in Essaouira, with a programme featuring a tribute to three iconic composers of the great German school of classical music, namely Beethoven, Schumann, and Brahms.
“These three 'German titans' will be on the bill for the 15th edition of the Printemps musical des Alizés and their most remarkable works will be at the heart of this exceptional event that Essaouira-Mogador gives every year to chamber music and lyrical art”, underlines a statement from the Essaouira-Mogador Association, organiser of this event. To bring the music of yesterday to life, it is young artists of today, “deeply rooted in their century” who will host the 12 concerts on the programme this year, indicate the organisers, who promise “a most romantic opening concert”, with the Hermès Quartet “whose latest recording dedicated to Schumann is unanimously acclaimed by critics”.
On the bill, it is noted, also figure the cellist Marc Coppey, who will perform Beethoven's “Triple Concerto”, alongside the pianist Ismaël Margain, nominated for the Victoires de la Musique in the revelation of the year category, as an instrumental soloist, and David Petrlik, crowned with numerous international violin prizes.
The programme also includes Brahms' Double Concerto, with David and Alexandre Castro-Balbi, “two extremely talented brothers who come from Peru”, the statement indicates, adding that “it is again Beethoven and Brahms that the Philharmonic Orchestra of Morocco, back in Essaouira, has chosen for two very festive evenings but also to retrace the history of Tosca, Puccini's opera, and for a very lively evening around Gershwin's Porgy and Bess, with the young voices of Axelle Fanyo, Louis Zaïtoun, and Edwin Fardini”.
