Social economy: 277 beneficiaries of INDH projects in Smara

Some 277 people in the province of Smara have benefited from projects completed or currently underway as part of the social economy programme, jointly funded by the Agency for the Promotion and Economic and Social Development of the Southern Provinces and the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH).

As part of the monitoring of these 14 projects, the governor of the province of Smara, accompanied by the director general of the Agency for the Promotion and Economic and Social Development of the Southern Provinces, visited the premises of the 'Ahl El Jid' agricultural cooperative on Friday, which have been renovated and strengthened with a modern unit for processing camel meat for a sum of 509,426 DH, allocated by the Agency.

This project, which is part of the camel farming development programme led by the Agency, aims to develop local capacities through the promotion of income-generating and job-creating activities.

Regarding the distribution of fishery products, the governor handed over three-wheeled motorcycles equipped with refrigerated lockers to nine members of the local fishmongers' association 'Al Izdihar' and two others to street food vendors in rural areas, who are members of the Association of Victims of Anti-Personnel Mines.

The cost of the projects falling under the social economy programme, the implementation of which is spread over three phases, amounts to 7.68 million dirhams, of which 7.43 million DH is covered by the Agency for the Promotion and Economic and Social Development of the Southern Provinces.

The projects completed in the first phase concern the acquisition of equipment for workspaces for 135 project leaders among young graduates and women in precarious situations.
